Title: Airfix 1/72nd Avro 504K
Post by: Bolman on October 24, 2019, 06:15:25 AM
Hey Folks,

Finally finished this old Avro I started a few years back. Paints are a mix of Floquil and Testors enamels. The CDL is a color I mixed. Rigging is 0.003" mono filament line. Decals are from the kit.

That takes me back - I built one as a kid. Not rigged, though and not as nicely as you have finished yours

Nice work

Very nice model.
I have never found 0.003" monofilament.  Where did you get it?

Thanks Richard, Roberto, Rick and Ken... Much appreciated!

Ken, It's actually Tippet line for fly tying.  I found it at a Bass Pro Shop and I picked the 8X version. If I recall, it's about a pound and a half test strength.

Great to see you back - and with another winner. I too built this when it was first released and enjoyed it very much, but mine too was nowhere near as good as this and was not rigged either. The colours look very good - nice contrast between the CDL and PC 10.

BTW the old Avro can be used as a basis for many conversions and semi-scratch builds - worth having a few spare for that reason alone.

Stephen.

Very nice, I have memories as well with old Airfix kits (and quite a big stash of very old blisters).
Painting and rigging are first class.
