Jasta 37 Ltn. Hamsher (Hamster)
« on: April 13, 2014, 10:22:52 PM »
Hi,

I'm planning to build the September 1917 Albatros DIII from Ltn. Ernst Hamsher (Hamster) from Jasta 37.
But there are some issues that I want to clear out before I can start the build.

Ltn. Hamsher's Albatros was the only DIII umong all the other DV's.
This of course raises questions about the aircraft's construction that can't be compared with the other aircraft of Jasta 37.

-The biggest question I got, is on the tail construction, was it a Johannisthal built tail (flat end) or a OAW tail (round end)?
-I'm  also looking  for the serial nr of this aircraft.
-I'm also looking for photos an color schemes?

I already know the photos that you can find on Wingnut and I know the portray of Ltn Hamsher sitting in his aircraft and posing next to the nose.

All help would be more than welcome.

Cheers,
Danny

Don't know, but D.IIIs at the front at that late date would likely be OAW, Johannistal switched over to D.V production in April.

Thanks Bo,

So the scale 1/32 Albatros D III (OAW) from Roden would be the best kit to start with than.

cheers,
Danny

If indeed it was an OAW machine, yes, that is the kit for 1/32.  :-)
