your wrinkles look great (not often you can say that and get away with it  :D )

What's the technique if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks. The method I use for the wrinkles is simple. I start with a thick acrylic craft paint. I apply it where i Want wrinkles( heavy puddle) Next a pointed round brush is drawn through the paint in the direction I want the wrinkles. This pulls paint with it leaving a valley. Move to the next one and repeat. Smooth it out where you want the wrinkles to end. I usually go back and add a bit of the acrylic to each individual wrinkle to make sure it doesn't flatten out. When the paint is dry I brush valejo or polyscale over it all. Takes longer to explain than it does to do the painting  ::)

Nice wrinkles Rick, was looking at SE5a photos and wondering how to create them only a few days ago. I really like your PC10 colour, Raymond Collishaw described his Tripelane as being dark green, Cecil Lewis described his SE5 as being chocolate brown. Your mix could easily be described as both by different people. Must be pretty much spot on.

Richie

Thanks Richie. My goal with PC 10 is usually to get some color shift between brown and green depending on the light. I am Not Always successful  :o

WOW, with that big spinner and four-bladed prop and the square chin, is anybody else thinking of a Hawker Typhoon?
Great stuff!
Sandy

Thanks Sandy. Well 56 did fly the Typhoon  ;D

Once I receive My strippers I will go back and do some shading and more paint work on the PC 10.

Does your wife know Rich?  And how will they help with painting?

This is coming along really well. I like your PC10 mix, looks spot on to my eyes. Regards Pete in RI

Thanks Pete!

Good, fast progress here, Rick -

I'm filing that fabric wrinkle trick for future uses - very effective.

Thanks for the explanation, i gave it a go earlier but have used vallejo plastic putty rather than acrylic paint. I'll see how it looks once painted

Thanks for explaining the wrinkle-technique for us. It's in my notebook now  :)

Good decision Rick to build it with a 4 blade prop, looks very special with this huge spinner.
This tells me to do also a 4 blade of the second kit of the Eduard Dual Combo in my stash, thanks for that.

May be I have overlooked it, how you masked the engine during the PC10 paint job? Is some liquid mask on it?

Great project with a lot of interesting info in this thread!

Cheers,
Frank

Great progress, Rick.  Nice touch with the wrinkles.  I've noticed a number of British aircraft tend to have wrinkling of the covering which is not seen so much on French and other aircraft.

Thanks! The wrinkles can be done more prominently, cover larger areas etc. I wanted small and subtle  8)

Thanks Ken. Yes, perhaps it has to do with all of the lacing on the sides  ;D

Only the best 'strippers' leave these premises, Ken  ;D ;D

Glad they made the trip across the pond without injury.
Keep up the great work on the SE5.a Rick.

So I have gone back to this one and here are the initial  results of using the Strippers: After using the masks I painted Tamiya Buff. Next is covering with thin coats of the Tamiya Mix of PC10.

Great to see this one back underway Rick, are the strippers decal strips or styrene? They're going to give a beautiful effect under the pc10. I love the business like lines of the SE5a, it's definitely not graceful like a Pup or a Nieuport but i find there's something very handsome about it.
