Superb paint work, Guy!  Quite an amazing build in a short time.
Beautifully done, my friend!

Yes indeedy, that looks terrific, Guy. I am impressed too with how quickly you produced this.

Some food for thought -- the WNW color notes mention that the metal areas were finished with different dopes than the fabric. I guess the fabric was ever so slightly pearlescent do to the addition of aluminum particles. Certainly you don't want to go thst far, but maybe some slight differentiation is in order?

Cheers

The camo looks fantastic, Guy, and the colors look spot on.  Brilliant build in such a short time.  Can't wait to see her finished.
Cheers,
Bud

Thanks again  ;)

Bo - yes, I thought about the pearlescent effect, but I just thought it wouldn't really work in this scale - the period pictures don't show it, so it must have been a subtle effect..  I will try and do something with the panels.

Another update. Decals on but I had a bit of a hiccup with the fuselage - tiny bit of silvering apparent on them which I tried to touch up but I just made it worse. Ended up removing them and ordering some more from Costa!

The decals themselves are excellent - my fault entirely  :P

But here's what's left so far anyway... (the wing stripes are masked and sprayed, but tbh the decals are so good - I wished I'd just used theirs now  :-\ )

Cheers

first i must congratulate you on a fantastic job, it looks as though you will be the first in the world to complete this kit. i decided after looking thru your build that i must get this kit asap. so yesterday i ordered the mid version from costas. cant wait to get it in me grubby little hands.

on the aluminum particle effect i use a method for my metallic finishes(see link below) that leaves metallic particles in the brush. i wiped the excess on a paper towel to the point where you couldnt really see anything left on the paper. once you get to that point you lightly dry brush the fabric areas with this brush. from a distance you cant notice it. but if you hold it in the light and look close you cant see some shiny particles here and there. this is what i imagine the real thing must look like.

I don't think you'll be disappointed, it's obvious a lot of time and effort has gone into producing this.

The decals look fantastic Guy, this is shaping up to be a real beauty, Costas has certainly done a great job producing this kit.

Beautiful decaling and great work on masking the stripes! I had a VAc kit that had these markings that made the stripes rather crude because apparently they weren't always perfect. As a matter of fact IIRC the Numbers were a little rough also. I think your stripes are awesome and fit right in!!

Truly excellent paint and decal work, Guy!  Did you use a pin wash on the louvers or are they just that beautifully molded?  They look fantastic.
Cheers,
Bud

Looking mighty fine Guy.  The decals look painted on like the stripes.  Great job.

Thanks Bud,

The louvers do have a pin wash, but they're beautifully moulded as well  ;)
