WNW Junkers D.1
« on: May 07, 2024, 07:03:25 AM »
Hello all,
Time is precious for me at the moment, but I will finish this kit if it's the last thing I do.
I'm In the early stages of dry fitting and the cursed modellers dilemma of which path I take. The out of the box job or the bells and whistles. Either option will honour our fallen friend.

This won't be a Hollywood build, but it will be a build with meaning and care. Care for our mate, Dave, may he rest in peace.

Cheers chaps.
BVB

Another interesting build, I recently acquired one of these for a very good price so keen to see how you approach this.

Looking good! A very different approach to mine. I tend to paint every part and detail before assembly, which also tends to drive me crazy... It'll be interesting to follow your build.

Like Fredrik, this is a very different approach to me. I'm intrigued to see how this comes together. Thanks for sharing the in progress pics.

Thanks chaps!
I'm enjoying the process. Only the top of the engine will be seen, so I'm not stressing over details. I will do some work in the cockpit area and this process will be the normal paint it and stick it method. Having fun with this.

Cheers,
Bob

Engine taking shape.
Most will not be seen, but I know it's there.
I have enjoyed painting this as a complete item. Sure, it's fiddly, but I'm up for the fiddle!

Cheers,
Busy Bob  :o

Great stuff, Bob.
Glad to see you mid-model again.

I like the approach. Probably how we all started as kids, but with age we started to detail smaller and smaller assemblies - and now, I for one, take far too long to get back to a complete engine, for example. On the way spending an inordinate amount of time on things that will never be seen again. (My absolute pet hate.)
Think I'll give your approach a go, next time.

I'm with Sandy, I may well try this approach on my next engine as well. Beautiful work so far!

Nice to see you back at the bench "von Builder", and better still to open a log and see the von Buckle logo "rampant" on the photos!!
Cheers,
