Lebed VII (Sopwith Tabloid)
I just finished my first model of the young year 2018, the oils are still fresh :)
The Lebed VII is a russian copy of the Sopwith Tabloid and the model was done from a Special Hobby kit in 1/48.
Further I used a rotary engine from Small Stuff, turnbuckles of Gaspatch and Eduard PE. Different wooden parts, e.g. air screw, cockpit, struts and undercarriage are made from scratch. Also some metal parts and the aluminium cover of the fuselage was added.
The painting I used colors of Gunze, Alclad and oils.
Due to the combination of real wood and metal this is one of the most beautiful models of my small collection!
And now the pictures!

Frank, I followed your build and have to say that this is one of the best models I have ever had the pleasure to see (even if only in pictures). Congratulations on this masterpiece.

Beautifully done Frank, a truly great model. Using wood and metal to represent wood and metal certainly is a nice touch and adds tremendous realism. Congratulations on another stunning addition to your collection.

That was a spectacular modelling show and the great finale does not disappoint, either. Great, great, great!

Frank, it is truly a magical experience watching your builds come together. You seem to be a master of all media!

Great build. I do like the weathered effect you have done on the metalwork. Some of the closeups could easily be mistaken for the real thing.

She's a little beauty, well done!

As said in the build thread already, this build was pure joy to follow, many thanks for sharing the progress and the number of tricks and techniques!
The result is definitely the best rendering of a Tabloid I have ever seen.
Great job, sir!
Cheers

I agree with Lance: using actual materials gives results which cannot be matched. But to do so takes real skill and you have demonstarted these in your excellent build thread. You are a master modeller Frank: I congratulate you on a true masterpiece.

Really really wonderful model. Well done, I love it!

Wow my friends - your overwhelming feedback makes me speechless! Thank you very much to ALL of you!
Special Hobby seems to like that model too and so its now posted to their Facebook page :)
Yes, its a great model. But on the other hand it needs a lot of effort and time, so not every of my future models will be build that way. Hmm, lets see ;)
It was started a small project to be build out of the box, but with every problem it was growing into such model by a in depth solution for that specific problem. So it was somehow unplanned, and I could not start such project with knowing from beginning the amount of problems to solve. So I do this step by step, and I like to be creative that way.
Hope you will follow my next project too!
Cheers,
Frank

I followed your build on this and it's a beautiful model. Nothing like using the real materials they really standout.
