Fokker D.VII Noltenius 1/72
« on: December 06, 2019, 09:56:17 PM »
Good morning to all!
This is my last production: Fokker D.VII (Alb) 5278/18 flown by Ltn. Friedrich Noltenius in his career in Jasta 27.
Noltenius was one of the "Ballon Buster Company" in WWI, 8 of his 21 victories were made against this high dangerous target. A pugnacious aviator, he was wounded two times, shot down one time but he returned to fight everytime. Maybe he was not a simple man, two of his transferring to other Jastas were results of his fight with comrades and commanders.
I used the Roden kit as a base, many of you sure knew the problem of fitting the lower wings to fuselage, so I need to rework all the section. Lozenge are from Aviattic with personal insignia from Print-Scale.

The scene is postwar, the D.VII survived and was taken by the americans. I showed two RFC pilots visiting the a/c to see one D.VII live. They used a Vauxhall (from Roden kit) to join the place. Again, I worked much on the little car. I changed the solid wheels of the kit with a more appropriate spoked ones. I used Part etched set with rubber O-Ring for the 5 new wheels. I had to scratchbuild the dashboard of the car because it's missed in the kit.
Comments welcome!

Very nice, especially in that small scale!
I don't remember having seen that painting before.
Some accident on the lower left strut connection to wing?

Have you build the new Eduard kit already? Seems to be very promising with all the optional parts!

Cheers,
Frank

Thank you Frank!
I had some problems, after reworking on the lower wings attachments, with aligning upper wing with struts, you're an eagle-eye modeller.
I have the new Eduard kit (OAW and Austro Hungarian boxes). It's really plenty of extras (8 pair of wheels, 6 radiator and 4 axle wing), and I used wheels and axle wing for this realization. Next time I will build one, for now I'm impressed by the level of the plastic sprues. I have only some doubts in the highness of the ribbing effect and the thickness of fuselage sides, too much for both.
Cheers,
Roberto

That is a first class vignette: the figures and car really make the scene and place the aircraft as the centre of attention. The markings are also new to me but they are very striking. Very well done.

Thank you to all!
Not one of my best, but it was amazing to work on Vauxhall more than to the Fokker...
Cheers!

Beautiful D.VII and quite an achievement to get it this nice at such a small scale. :)

Found my mojo and clipped it's wings, so it won't fly away.
