Very nice so far! What is the shiney stuff on the centre section of the top wing on the early version? Is it just clear tape, or some film or tape to simulate clear covering of the real thing?

Very nice progress, Bud. The interieur and the mid part of the upper wing looks really great.

I am not sure how I have missed this until now so I have just read through your thread. It is very interesting to see the differences between the early and late variants, the more so as these differences have been really made clear via your first class modelling skills. The interiors look much larger than they really are, which reflects your skills as a master modeller.

Stephen.

Thank you for your very generous comments, my friends!  Sorry to have been so remiss in my postings, but I've either been too busy or too lazy lately.  Maybe a little of both.
I did manage to finish both just last week and after a bit of a wrestling match with photobucket, I'm finally able to post photos.

More photos in the completed model section.  Far too many, I'm afraid, and for that I appologize.
Cheers,
Bud

Both look very nice, Bud. I love the oil finding its way over the engine cover.

Thank you, Andreas!  I was fortunate enough to see a Le Rhone powered Sopwith Camel in flight at Javier Arango's facility in Paso Robles during the League of WWI Aviation Historians convention in Monterey, CA, in 2011.  When the Camel landed, oil was all over the cowling and undercarriage.  I took photos and have been using those as a guide ever since.
Cheers,
Bud

Merci, Luis!
The undercarriage struts are the same for both kits.  The angle of the photos make one look longer than the other, I think.
Cheers,
Bud
