I started this last weekend actually and have made pretty good progress on the kit so far . This is a copy of the Tamiya kit with a few changes made , decals are crap and will be replaced with ones coming for the spare box . The makings are also aftermarket . This is pretty much out of the box except for the seat which came from the junk pile . So far this is where I'm at with the build .

Interested to see the wing to fuselage fit etc. I know its a close copy of the Tam kit but those early ICM kits I found waaaay over engineered. It does look good so far though!

I'm looking forward to that part as well Steve mating the lower wing to fuselage . There was fit issues with the wings and there is still a bit of clean up but at least the wheel well part fitted nicely !
Really can't comment on their earlier kits for I only built one other . Revell's re-boxing of ICM P-51B which is a copy of Tamiya's kit with Accurate Miniatures cockpit . Fit of that kit wasn't good at all . Sadly I do have another one in the stash waiting to be built . But I have spare Tamiya pit for that one ;)
Thanks Ken for checking her out :)

Just catching up Terri. Nice looking interior! As always you are moving right along on this one!

Thanks for catching up on the build Rick , nice to have you tag along :) Yes so far the build is going pretty good and quick , but I have some filling and sanding to do , over all not bad for the amount which I was expecting the worse .
Made some more progress and the fuselage is glued up and the wing as well . Over fit so far isn't all the bad . Started with a bit of light sanding , still more sanding ....

Looks like a lot of awful seams.
Shaping up nicely.

Hi Ken , yes there is a lot of seems but they were quick work and didn't take long to resolve so I moved on to the painting stage since the airbrush was already out .
The undersurface is sprayed Tamiya XF Neutral Grey and the upper surfaces I sprayed Tamiyas lacquer Olive Drab 2 . The spinner and blades are their acrylic line . I have touch ups on the spinner . I have issues this time with the masking . Rest of the parts are ready for further detail painting and weathering . I did dip the canopy parts in future I just need to mask and spray them with pretty colours ! And I haven't even started the exhaust yet :o

I Love your OD Terri! Nicely faded and subtle!

Yes, the subtle shading around the panel lines yields a nice effect.

Thanks Rick and Ken . I'm really liking these Tamiya lacquer paints , so this is positive feedback for me :)

Thats really cool Terri. I don’t know why but I like the olive drab planes much more than the bare metal ones. I have the new Revell 1:32 P-51 in my stash and will keep on watching this build as a reference.

Thanks for dropping by Andreas , glad to have you following along . You will like building the Revell kit , it has really nice detail and the fit is pretty good . Do you recall my 32 scale build on the forum here ?
The basic scheme decals are finished being applied , stenciling is still left to go . Will be using ones from a Tamiya kit ( Have mega spares of these )

Today I spent my time on the mustang and have gained good ground on getting her done .
Rest of the decals are finished and sealed in with clear . I used Flory's dark dirt wash overall and black on the nose section and along the wing root . Detail painting was finished off and then everything good a another sealing coat with Testor's dullcoat lacquer . Now comes weathering with pastels and a bit of paint chipping .
