Title: WnW Fokker E.1 13/15
Post by: Ssasho0 on February 05, 2018, 07:14:32 PM
Hello all,

I have been away from the forum for the last year, not really building any WWI aircraft with the exception of this one rpesented with this topic. It is the WnW's Fokker E.1 13/15, Max Immelmann & Oswald Boelcke, FFA 62, August 1915, I added Gaspatch turnbucles and machine gun, Steven Robson's spoked wheels and some scratched parts here and there, for example the propeller which is handmade by me. I hope you like it!

Beautiful!
You did a great job. The colour variations are superb and the weathering is outstanding.
Perfect!

Great to see you back. Although not my favourite plane, your model of E.I is spectacular. Great weathering, exactly as per those filthy Fokkers with rotary engines. Great modelling, SsashoO!

I think you've captured every facet of the aircraft so well. It's a beautiful model & one for us to use as reference as regards appropriate weathering.

Russell

SsashoO,
Great to see you and your work back here again, and what a work it is. To use the Baseball term, you've hit this one well out of the park, just a magnificent model!! The finish is exceptional; the "swirling" on the metal panels, the weathering in particular, and the colors are all perfect to my eye and the rigging, prop, and those "Robson" wheels are impressive as well. I have to go on the record as saying this is one of the finest models I've seen on this Forum, and I believe the best in the hobby are to be seen here. My compliments, this is really admirable work!
Cheers,
Lance

From the hand made prop to the oilstains on the fabric, you certainly nailed this one down.  The machining on the cowling is exceptional as well.  One of the best Eindeckers to be seen here.  You certainly haven't lost your touch in a year.  Outstanding work all around.

This model is very nicely done!

How do you get the lines for the wood layers on the propeller blade so clean and straight?

Any tricks for that?  I have struggled with that myself, using colored pencils and free-hand drawing on the blades.  I find it hard to get them as straight and even as you have done here.

Well done!

Lovely work  on the Eindecker, plus the handcrafted prop and a pair of “Uncle Otto’s” wheels.

Simply a beautiful model. I love it. :)

Thank you all for the nice words about the model :) The important for me is that it got my WWI mojo bacv :)

I just glued two colours veneer together and then carved it :) this way lines are perfect... I am doing this now for nearly every model. The first time, few years ago, it took me 4-5 attempts untill I get a fairly good result. Nowadays I usually succeed from first or second time max. SO just try it it is not that hard and there should be tutorial somewhere on the forum :)

best regards,
Sasho
