WNW1/32 Captured Albatros D.V 4545/17
« on: February 14, 2017, 12:19:06 PM »
Hi:

Since my modeling mojo is coming back I thought I would do WNW's Albatros D.V as a captured British aircraft using Pheon's fantastic Captured! Volume One decal set 32040. Unfortunately, there aren't any lozenge decals in the kit and I'm slightly color-blind and I don't know which lozenge set to get. It looks to me like the upper wing is five color and the lower wing is four color; is that possible? Could someone please tell which Aviattic decal sheets to use? Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanx,
Carl

Thanx Bo. I thought the top was five; but not the bottom. Do you by chance know what Aviattic sheets I would use?

I think it's modeller's choice, I would go with ATT32017 upper and ATT32019 lower...

Really interested to see your treatment as I haven't seen too many captured aircrafts modeled.  Looking forward to your progress.

I agree with both. 5 color upper and lower. Nice project. Looking forward to your build Carl!

What a great idea - a captured aircraft. This is modelling with a difference.

I painted the fuselage halves. I'm not happy with the wood effect; but putting the halves together you don't see much so I'll make up the wood grain with the fuselage wood.

I think the wood work looks good Carl! A few streaks of burnt sienna blended in might spice it up a bit but like you said for what will be seen your painting will be effective.

Thank you. I'll add a streak or two of burnt sienna. That's a great idea.

On looking again at the lozenge application on 4545's lower wing it is chord wise, joins in the fabric are clearly seen.

Regards
Richard

Thank you. Could you please send me the other sheets suggested?
