Interesting arrangement, one builder and one painter... Great scheme and the results look promising though.

Beautiful work, Bertl, the D.VII is one of my top 3 favorite WWI aeroplanes and this is an extraordinarily colorful example. Looking forward to seeing it completed!

Many thanks to you all!

Slowly but surely the bird is coming to an end.
A few decals and paint jobs, but the rest is done.

Incidentally, this is the first Wingnut Fokker D.VII that I've worked on.
It's interesting to see how much more fragile and delicate this model looks compared to other single-seaters such as the Pfalz D.IIIa, Roland D.VIa/b or the Albatros fighters.
You hardly dare to take the thing in your hand to rub the decals on the sides of the fuselage.

The struts on the model are also all wafer-thin.
My friend will be delighted when he gets to assemble his model completely.

Great work on the Fokker. One question - were those camo stains on the engine cowling airbrushed free-hand to have the soft colour-borders?

Thank you very much, Ben and PrzemoL

Hi @PrzemoL.

yes, the purple-green camo camouflage is painted on freehand with an airbrush.
This Rudolph Windisch airplane was one of the first OAW-Werke production lot (Fokker D.VII (OAW) 2035/18).
On the original pictures (thanks to Wingnut Wings) you can see that there were no sharply defined purple-green fields painted,
as on the later construction lots.

Very early OAW's:

Later (OAW):
