Thanks to all you Guys that added comments after my last entry. Zabu, Gary,, Mike, Adam, Ernie, Bud and Patrick. I really appreciate you taking the time to offer such great comments, you may drive me to drink (in celebration) at this rate!
It's hard to believe I opened this Thread last Nov. 16th, been quite a busy year and the stop and go nature of this Build is no way to run a Model line! She is finally COMPLETED, Here's my usual final photos as coached by my mentor, Mr. Bean..............
The loose wires are the two I mentioned earlier, left disconnected as they would be to remove the engine cowling panels. I used a combination of Bobs' and Gas Patch buckles for the ends.

As you can see She has a few "warts", the Scarff Ring bungees aren't what I had hoped to accomplish and I believe less bungee cord on the wheel axles would have been more accurate. Also, I may do another Lewis Gun, it's just not quite "clean" enough for my eye.
The Build was incredibly enjoyable, it's probably the best engineered Kit I've ever done. Most of the obstacles I encountered were very much a product of the broken sequence of the Build, in other words induced by the Builder! This is still not a Kit for a beginner, the aircraft design with the "underslung" lower wing has to be carefully worked or the whole assembly can be out of whack. The struts for the attachment of the lower wing were the only criticism I have of the Kit; the Instructions just weren't that clear to me. Last, the rigging can be a challenge. I left off the second set of bracing wires on the vertical stab as the only photos I found of it were on the TVAL Bird. The real challenge was thinking through the sequence to ensure new wires going on didn't result in old wires getting torn off!
In summary, an outstanding Kit, the best WNW I've tackled to date, and a very satisfying Build. I learned a lot from this one!

Here's two final shots of her on the Base, I'll probably be adding to the Base with some maintenance stuff (Bench, a few bits and tools, perhaps a ladder, and I'd like to add some mud and yellow grass as well.

Des, I guess you can move this over to Completed Models...She's finally done! :) :) :)

Cheers,
Lance

Hello Lance:

You have done an absolutely outstanding job on this model.  Knowing how difficult it is to start, stop and start again after long periods of time, this makes it especially outstanding.  As has been mentioned, the finish, the rigging, the engine, all the details, truly outstanding.  I still don't have the guts to start one, but seeing your model sure makes it tempting.
Best

Mark

Very, very nice - rid shading and weathering are first rate.

Glad you got there in the end!

Whats your next project then, mate?

Thank You Guys for even more wonderful comments. I'd be lying if I didn't admit that the comments that matter to me are those from one's who know the turf and measure results by their own high standards, those who share my passion for the aircraft and modelling of the Great War. When a member whose work I truly admire makes a favorable comment I feel I've achieved a lot, and that applies to everyone here. When someone who isn't involved in the Hobby pays a compliment I offer a polite and sincere Thank You, but it's not the same. All the "very best" to all, and to steal a line from Dave (Kong), Thank You Des for this wonderful venue, it's a great place to be and Lord, what a great bunch of Folks! I've learned a great deal from you, and will continue to learn from participating here.
Next project will probably be the WNW Sopwith Tripe in Raymond Collishaw's colours however it's going to take me a few days to clean up the desk (and hopefully retrieve a few of the dozens of buckles I "tweezer-pulted into the ether!) My cave room looks like a bomb went off in the corner, refs piled everywhere, piles of sticky notes, a small fortune in Data Files, and printouts from the net abound. You've all been there I know, and will agree that it only takes a few days to get it back to a comfortably chaotic state.......... , which I look forward to already.
Cheers All!
Lance :) :) :)

Lance that is a terrific model!! I am amazed that you think that it could be improved even more - clearly you can see what the camera cannot, but I would be delighted beyond measure if I could make and paint a model of this standard. Very many congratulations - a stunner!

I'm a bit late to the party Lance but it sure is good to see that you have your Bif finished. You've done a spectacular job with her and it was well worth all the time and effort you've invested in it over the past year. Your craftsmanship is simply superb. You've incorporated several features that I missed, or overlooked, that really make your model 'pop'. In particular, the stand-offs for your extended exhaust pipes and the rib shading on the fuselage immediately caught my eye. When I look at your Bif and compare it to mine, I can see where my build would've profited from a bit more time and effort on my behalf. Your's is absolutely first class all around. Well done!

Cheers,

Chris

Hi Lance,

I'm trully speechless. This is such a wonderful build. You know, even if I'm a beginner I already know how difficult it is to produce a fairly good result. When seeing these beauty's I'm aware that it's far beyond my abilities. Many congratulations.

Kind regards
Patrick

Beautiful plane, Lance! I´m going to read your build log over and over again. I like your shading and weathering, especially needed here.

A Bristol Fighter has been shipped this week to me from New Zealand. I´ll have to wait for a number of weeks for it to arrive. Mine is going to become BR-401 / B1124 from RFC 48.

regards,
Ivo

Lance, I think I've managed to replicate your messy work area.  Unfortunately, that's
where the similarity ends.  Your model-making is, from what I see, flawless.  I haven't a hope
of getting that good, so I will just content myself with drooling over yours and hopefully
pick up a couple of tips from you along the way.  Smashing build, my friend!

Cheers,
Ernie :)
