Castor oil from the engine was added with water based oil paints.  Blue gray striping done with Microscale Amtrak Blue decals and Vallejo paints.  I initially added the decals on the wings and then came back and brush painted them with the blue-gray color.  Then decided to paint the blue gray directly on the decal and cut the stripes out. This worked out well although I had to use Microset Red and Walthers Solvaset to get them to lay flat and actually 'melt' on the surface.   First time I tried this and it went pretty well.

I used the kits decals which were very thin and easy to apply.  I did switch around the serial number to a lower number to match the hole in the wing for the early aircraft.  I have yet seen an in service photo of the machine gun mounted as on prototype photos in the Datafile.  Several photos of Nieuport 10's are on the web with this early wing but none have the MG mounted so an leaving it off.  Rigging is done with .005mm fishing line and .006mm ceramic wire.

Very nicely done, I like the oil stains on the side of the fuselage.

Excellent Nieuport build! Like Des I really like the oil stains. Your rigging is also excellent! The hole in the upper wing was certainly an interesting solution to the field of fire/ observers view. Very nice work on the conversion.

What they all said!  I really like the blue hue on the struts and the castor oil as well.

Neat-oh!

Nicely done Charlie!

Your blue taping is particularly excellent.
