If the struts are not too short, you may consider redrilling the mounting holes on one wing or the other so the strut angle (as viewed from the front) is not so great (more vertical).  This may be an acceptable solution.

Thanks Kensar, I had the same thought, but I have already glued the eyelets for rigging and doing all that work again (plus repainting of course) is a far too long way seen the time I have to sit at the bench and the time this bbuild has taken so far!!!!

The previous photo was taken this morning.
I took the weights away and everything went to its place (or at least to an acceptable place).
The ensemble is stiff enough and I put in place the tubes coming out of the radiator and the gravity tank.

Now I will go on to rigging.

Thanks for commenting and for your support!

I would have suggested making struts from strip, but you seem to have solved the problem in the second way I would have suggested - use a biit of weight and show the model who is boss!!

So pleased that you have the struts in place - they are usually the most tricky problem wen I am scratch building so I know how you must have been feeling.

Thank you Stephen,  as a matter of fact I had already remade the struts from scratch and my second option was your first one!
:-)

To me this is still the most dreadful moment in building a biplane, no fear for rigging but a lot of thinking for placing the struts and the top wing.

Maybe because as I build in 48th I have on the average low quality kits and there are often precision problems.

Thanks again everybody and good night

Antonio

Happy to see you got the wing to line up and attach to the struts. Looks great as a Bi plane!

Hi friends,
here is the second plane with the top wing on and the tubes coming from the ceiling at their place.

Friday I'll undergo a long awaited surgical intervention, so I'll temporarily leave the trenches from wednesday May 5 to monday May 10 I'll be in the hospital, I'll be pleased to read about all your fantastic builds from the phone.

ciao

Hello, Antonio -

Apologies for joining in late.

Great work (especially on the Blue Max kit) and progress.  Good choice of colour marking schemes for both your models - look forward to seeing these completed.

Regards

Dave

That is looking every bit as good as your first one.

Best of luck with your hospital visit - looking forward to seeing more of these when you return.

Stephen.
