Fokker DVII F, Ernst Udet, MAC 1/72

Hi all,

Finally finished MACs 1/72 Fokker DVII F in Ernst Udet's Jasta 4 colours.  I cut away the front of the cowling and replaced MACs basic engine cylnders with a spare Roden BMW engine.  Added a bulkhead and a few details in the engine bay as well (which are just about visible).  Not sure if the ribtapes should be blue or pink, but blue is all I had!  Vallejo paints and Aviattic lozenge.  Used the kit decals which where fine.  Not entirely happy with the finish after I varnished it - I didn't thin it enough for the first coat.
Any comments welcome.

Nicely done.  The Aviattic lozenge looks great.  Don't see the MAC kit much anymore since the release of the Eduard kit.

Beautiful work, Will, great job on that semi-exposed motor! I've loved this aeroplane since building the Revell kit Way Back When, and reading Udet's book when it came out as part of the wonderful Ace Books WWI memoir series.

Wonderful build on this MAC kit.  I have a few in the stash. Any problematic areas with the build?

Thanks for all the nice comments.  No issues with the fit of the parts except for the tripod struts which needed a lot a patience and trying to work out which radiator you are meant to fit (photos helps here) Lots of spare DVII fuselages left over as well!

Nice job. You did very well with the MAC kit, I would have been tempted to bin it and get an Eduard one!
