WNW Ships Camel

After a frustrating build with my USAS Sopwith Camel, I thought I would try another one. Armed with lessons learned I went ahead with the Ships Camel. I always wanted to experiment with an all CDL scheme and try to capture that transulscency of the upper cockade being seen through the fabric. Another thing I wanted to try to capture was the light passing through the inspection ports. Not sure I captured either one perfectly but, as it is my first go around, I am happy with the results.
So there you have it. I have about 51 hours invested in this kit, the only rigging issue I had was on one of the interplane struts, when I was pulling on the upper rear line to tighten it a bit, the molded in eyelet broke, otherwise no rigging issues at all.

Mark,
The scheme as I said in my PM is a real eye catcher, the dark wood with the CDL is really nice. What I forgot to comment on was your effort at the translucent upper roundels, they are excellent! Very nicely done, and only 3 or 4 more Camels to go!
Cheers,

Lovely work, there's a real elegance about this one.
Just a shame what a few weeks in salt spray would do to it!
A random thought; I've often wondered, about the machines that were ditched and then lifted out, how easy was it to get the engines running again? Assuming they tried!
Thanks for showing it off - will have to get on with mine before long...

Outstanding Mark, you've captured the translucency of the upper cockade beautifully. Congratulations on another beautiful build.

That’s pretty darned impressive. Not just the roundels but the ribs and spars make it look so real.

Nicely done. I have this kit waiting in the wings. What are the frustrating lessons you mention?

Simply stunning, Mark! You've mastered the translucency technique in spades! Brilliant all 'round, old friend!

Wow, that‘s a true beauty, Mark!!! Thanks for sharing!
Only yesterday I asked myself, why there were so few ship‘s Camels „out there“ - and then today...
But, by the way, what was wrong or difficult with your USAS Camel?
Cheers, Richard

Really a great beauty, the shine through effect is great, as the dark shadow of the struts are perfect, too.
The plane looks just great.
Chapeau,Mark

ps i think the ribs are what 'sell' the translucency, not just the cockades. taking notes...
