Albatros D.V 1/32 Wingnut Wings "Eduard Ritter von Schleich"
« on: August 03, 2023, 08:46:39 PM »
Final pictures of my Albatros build.

As my first WW1 plane of choice - I had a lot to learn. However WnW really made an stunning model and made the experience fun and learning.
I can truly say Im bitten by the WW1 bug and will be doing more builds in the future.

In the future I will come back to this plane and build a base with maybe a figure, but for now I really want to start something else  :)

Link to build thread https://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=13894.0

As a note - I went back and removed some of the dust pigment on the wing near the cockpit. I was looking a bit to much.

With cowling on.

Rigging close up

My glue mishap fixed... Was just above the exhaust... So soot mark now  ;)

Gorgeous. I wish my first WNW kit ended like this. Great that you got hooked and I am looking forward to your future builds.

Stunning results. I enjoyed your build log and like others I wish My first WNW builds had turned out this well! Lovely work including weathering and rigging!

Beautiful work Ben, anyone would have thought you'd been building WW1 kites since you were a young snapper! Great stuff!

Cheers,

BC

Very nicely done Ben!  Realistically painted and weathered Albatros. Thanks for sharing your work.

All the best,
Tim

Thank you all for the kind words - I'm happy you like the Albatros  :)
It's nice to have such a welcoming forum to share the same passion.

For finish I was unsure how to handle stuff like the weathering to get the look I wanted. Think I'll try to push some more filters on the next one  ;)

Right now i'm building a Bandai Star Wars kit as a more relaxing and short build before I jump to my next WnW.

As for my next WnW I think it will be the Sopwith 5F.1 Dolphin. I need some experience with 1 seaters before I move the the larger planes with more rigging and planning needed.

I originally wanted to do a WnW F.1 Camel, but were told it was more tricky then one would imagine.

Please do share it with us in our non-WWI model section! I can't be the only other Star Wars fan on the board! I'd love to see what you're working on.

Great thanks! Did not notice this section on the forum, but I'll definitely share a few of my other build im working on  :)
Star Wars kits do take a quite a large amount of my stash! I hope to start working on my 1/72 Millennium Falcon this year... But lets see sometimes projects take longer than anticipated.

And thank you Gary and Richie - I have also enjoyed your build logs - so happy to give a little back  :)
