There's always a risk of suspected double or tripple vision with your builds, but now one really needs to peel ones eyes in order to make sure it isn't a double posting!  ::) Looks great though! Both of them!

Thanks Fredrik. Once the Markings start it won't be as difficult to tell them apart  8)

Some stunning progress, Rick! Some beautiful variations in colour too - you are quite a master at that! Enjoying this immensely! Regards, Marc.

Thanks Marc. I appreciate your comments. I am far away from being a Master but I do like most of the concoctions I come p with  ::)

Rick,
Somewhere in this thread, or another SPAD thread, I've missed what paint you're using for the fabric portions and for the Ripolin section. What are you using sir, it looks great!

WD

I think so far in this thread I have just mentioned Tamiya Paints so you really haven't missed anything. Now for the answer to the best of MY ability. I have mentioned before that I am a "Seat of the Pants" Modeler. I rarely measure anything I mix! So I can tell you that the lighter color has Tamiya Buff, Desert Yellow, and white, mixed until I liked the color. The darker color is Tamiya Desert Yellow and white...lots of white. It may have had a bit of the lighter color mixed in also. I will try hard on My next build to take notes so I can answer questions a little better .

I have begun to add the markings to both SPADS prior to weathering. I was able to use the lower wing roundel from the Hobby Craft SPAD XIII on the SPA 124 birds' upper wing. I had no roundels to match the size for the lower wing. I was forced to "Learn" a new skill. I have had the OLFA tool for about 25 years and never used it  :-[ It took about 5 attempts for each roundel but I am pleased with MY first effort. I also had to match the color as close as possible to the Upper wing roundels. Valejo red with a drop of Heavy red. Pretty close to MY eye. Of course I still need to add the blue center  8) As for the British SPAD I have begun to mask and paint the stripes on the rear fuselage.

I have frequently hand painted roundels on my models Rick - I use a pair of dividers to mark out the circles - and yours looks super good, the more so given the size of the model.

A skill well learned here.

Stephen.

Well done Rick, looks great!

That could also be a job for the electronic cutter!
BTW, there is also a "Stepless Adjustment Circular Cutter" by DSPIAE, but this tool is so high priced, that you get for a little more the electronic cutter. And this one can cut much more than only circles. And the knifes are the same :)

Cheers,
Frank

Thanks Frank, I appreciate the comments! I am afraid that this simple tool will be the limit of My self made markings tools. The others are out of My budget  ::)

Here are the latest photos of both SPADs'. I have added the blue centers to the roundels. I also painted the basics of the bands on the rear fuselage of the 19 squadron bird. I am sort of disappointed in the band in that I have FAR MORE touch up and re alignment to do than I had hoped. Oh well, one out of two ain't bad  8)
