What car is this
« on: October 22, 2015, 07:14:51 PM »
Can anyone tell me what car this is, it is a beautiful looking car and is from the 1950's. I was wondering if a kit has ever been made of this particular car.

It is a 1957 Kurtis Kraft Indy roadster!

Thanks very much Bo for the quick reply. I will now search for a kit so I can do one the same as the pictured car, a really striking colour scheme.

Monogram did one in 1/24 scale.  Not sure what year it's supposed to represent.  There's one on ebay for 15.00.

The monogram kit represents a bit earlier vintage --  I think the kit dates to 1956. It might be a useful starting point though. You'd have to (vacu-form?) your own body, I don't see that as being an impossible hurdle for a man of your talents, Des.

Lance Sellers Resin Kits appears to do a Kurtis 1957 500G. I think that is the same car as above but with a differing exhaust setup. Not sure of the availability of it - the website is:

Also Indycals has decals for lots of older indycars (unfortunately not that particular scheme) and aftermarket wheels that I think might work for this car:
