Shame Ryan,

Despite that it really looks great. I love the controlled pin wash.

HGW belts >> PE belts, good choice and this is relatively easy to repair. The HGW belts are mandatory for my builds nowadays, they are so much better looking then the PE things.

Thanks Ssasho0, should have used the HGW belts in the first place.

Question on the HGW set, it just arrived....

Does one typical paint the buckles after assembly?

Follow up question, can you use a blackening agent on PE parts?

Thanks
Ryan

Blackening agent: just try it, I think you can use it.
painting: I paint them before assembly and then just touch ups afterwards if needed, but that just me.

The build continues with the repair of  self inflicted damage of the seat and backer. First up was a the fix of the right hand side seat support opening.
A punched disk was glued over the shaved down spot of the buggered original. The disk was drilled out to match the left one.

After primer it looked like it never happened. :)

Last step was to repair, strip, and sand down the seat. New seat bracket rods were also created from (2) different diameter plastic rods, built long for trimming.

Just as an after thought Ryan,

To save scraping out the paint, I’ve found it works well to mask the ‘channels’ with a thin tape (@2mm), the ones I use for rib tapes. Much quicker, cleaner and effective. Just a thought for future builds!

I’m going to try to copy your ‘wet’ wood grain technique on my 1/48 SE5a, although it’s so much smaller with many protruding parts it may be tricky.

Can’t wait to see more updates.

Thanks for checking in Guy, you are correct about the tape, I was just impatient! :)

Play around with the wet technique, I should prob post a step by step on how to do it.

I'm still in the fight with this one.  :D

After a brief rest period to cool off and fix my mistakes I have assembled the seat module and its ready for belts. Since I had to repaint the seat I tried a little shading to give a leather effect.
Not sure If I was successful but the dark edges around the seat was the result. I still need to pick out the areas of the seat frame in grey green.

next update will be huge...wrapping up the interior.
