Base for model

Does anyone know of a good way to securely mount an aircraft
to a good wooden base? This is a first for me, as I normally just
leave the 'as is'.

It depends on the scale as to how I mount them. For 1/72 and 1/48 scale I simply drill into the tires and insert a brass pin then into the drilled holes on the base. For 1/32 and larger (WW II) I usually will drill through the base and then counter sink it then use a small screws to hold the plane to the base. WW I models I do just as with the smaller scales with the exception of using larger brass pins.

Looks like I'll be using pins. Seems just the job.
Just thought it would be nicer to mount my RE8
and future models on bases.
Mainly for presentation and for security.

Concur, doctor, and couldn't have said it better myself. The pinning technique is light years more stronger than a small dab of glue, and much less noticeable!
