This has been an especially enjoyable and rewarding build- the Special Hobby 1/48 scale Phonix D.1

For a limited run kit it goes together quite well and the level of detail is pleasing.

I chose this kit as a painting challenge, to recreate the unusual stippled camouflage scheme used on this Phonix of Flik 14J in June 1918. The model was brush painted with the stipple applied using Vallejo burnt umber over a light brown base.

Rigging is with 5amp electrical fuse wire.
Special Hobby's range of WW1 aircraft are enjoyable builds and well worth adding to your collection.

Superb results, Dave. It has an overall great 'look' to it.
If only they made one in 1/32.

I like that very much Dave,
Lovely subject too.

You certainly rose to the painting challenge Dave. That stippled finish looks fantastic. It's so great to read about an enjoyable, fun build too.

Very nice, Dave! Great results on one we don't see built very often.

Wow super build and finish. It would be nice to see Kotare do this in 1-32 - wishful thinking ;D

I seem to have missed this when it was first posted. That is a superb model - the colours are particularly well done. Nice to see that you used wire for the rigging too - I find it absolutely indespensable for true scale pusher models.

I can only repeat and agree with what the others said Dave.
This is a stunning build and I really like the unusual colour scheme!
