Just got the WNW kit of the gotha G.I and the box art has raised an interesting question. Did the Germans fly close escort duties on the big birds? Did they just fly escort until the bombers could reach altitude or how did it work for them? I've read where both sides would join up with the recce/attack aircraft but nothing about the bigger bombers. Anyone be able to answer this for me and or point to a good book or ref?
