AMC DH.9 Spetsai (1/32, Wingnut Wings)
« on: May 06, 2024, 05:19:38 AM »
Here is the gallery of my freshly completed WNW DH.9 in the famous Greek Navy Air Service livery. My model represents Spetsai in its late service colours - as seen during the May 1919 flight from Mundros to Smyrna in Asia Minor.
Huge thanks go to Spyros (acewwi) who was enormously generous providing me with a couple of invaluable photos of this aircraft and the contact to Greek decal manufacturer - LM Decals, who has the replacement decals in their offer.
Besides those I have also corrected the camo pattern from WNW manual which was possible thanks to the above mentioned photos.
I have also added some installations to the infamous Puma engine, a mysterious mount on the observer cockpit side together with the bomb release mechanism, skipped the pilot aiming devices which are not on seen on Spetsai and decided to open the engine top covers.
I have chosen the red rays on the undersides as well as the red rear stripe on the rudder following another suggestion from a Greek modeller who build a great model of this a/c from Roden 48th scale kit with these more spectacular colours.
Enjoy!

Absolutely incredible model, Prze. Really love the way your camo and weathering turned out on this one. And your detail is superb. Very striking piece of work - congrats!

Beautifully done... it's going to be an inspiration when (if?) I finally get around to starting my Ninak.

That's really amazing, Prez!

Always great to see a more unusual marking/colour scheme and this does not disappoint.

Wow that is spectacular! The markings are very striking and different, especially the camouflage. I like the open engine covers as we can admire the details which are otherwise hidden.

Another masterpiece from the master modeller.

Stephen.
