New Decals for WNW Sopwith Camel in Belgian Service 32064
« on: August 09, 2017, 06:48:08 AM »
A second set Due from the printers in the next three to four weeks is this first of a number of planned decal sets for the new WNW Sopwith Camel. We have previously offered individual Belgian markings for the WNW RE8 and Pfalz D.XII but this time we have produced an entire set for Belgian machines. Six remarkably colourful Camels in Belgian service are provided.  It is likely that all were Clerget engined: -

1.   Sk 7 Lt.Jean Olieslagers, 9me Escadrille.
2.   Sc 23 Lt.Edouard Tollet, 4me Escadrille.
3.   Sc 35 Capt. Ernest Mantel, 2me Escadrille.
4.   Adjutant Léon Cremers, 11me Escadrille.
5.    Sc 11 (ex B5747) 11me Escadrille.
6.   Serial not known, Capitaine-Commandant Robert M.G.H.Dhanis, 3me Escadrille.

Special thanks go to Walter Pieters for his excellent (and massive – 722 pages!) work , The Belgian Air Service in the First World War from which details of these aircraft, their operations and their pilots are drawn. Highly recommended!

Full Price will be £15.50, but for pre-orders received before the end of August 2017 the set will be available at the reduced price of £13.50 and if pre-ordered by the end of August together with this month's other new release, 32063, Pfalz D.IIIa, Volume 3, BOTH will be available for a combined price of £25.00. All prices subject to post and packing costs at the appropriate rate for your location.

Pre-orders can be placed on our website in the next few days.

Most untapped source of colorful allied markings, IMHO.  Would love to see more Belgian markings on other aircraft, such as the Sopwith Pup and the Re.8.  I will definitely be preordering.

Hello Dave,

One set of tailored roundels. The usual trade-off of decal sheet space v no. of options. If there was sufficient demand I could print more roundels/rudder flashes but I'm not sure how many would sell - I'm holding my breath over going for Belgian subjects as it is.

Let's see how they go.

The holiday looks fun, BTW!

Rowan

Yes, tailored to the WNW kit part.

Rowan,

Have you sidelined the 1/48 Fokker D VII sets you had planned? I noticed that they are no longer listed on your site.

I'm hoping that's just a oversight.   :-\ With Roden and Eduard both making a nice kit of this WW1 classic. I would think that there is still a demand for these sets.

Chuck

P.S. Also, do you have a time frame on the reprint of the 1/48 Offag Albatros swrol camo set? Thanks!
