Fichten Foo's Dragonfly aka Fokker DIXa Libelle
« on: July 24, 2017, 06:44:27 PM »
Hello friends,
some time ago, I have started a fun project of a steampunk flying machine. I wanted it to fit in a WWI What-if-scenario.
So I took some Wingnut wings spareparts, lozenge and wood decals and let it go.
that's what came out of it until now.

Bye,
Manni

Great! But remember only the early pre-production Fokker D IXa had round windshields. The later production models had rectacular ones  ;)

wow Manni!
I have been intrigued by Industriamechanica products (the fish like submersible is what I prefere)!
so I'll follow your build with much interest! What you have done so far is really stunning, as always I must say.
is the body of the dragon fly full resin or is it hollow? how did you manage to add the engine?
ciao

Thank you, gentlemen for the kind words.

May be I look for the death head moth. It will look great in PC10 and clear doped linnen.

@Edo: The body is full resine and I hollowed it with my dremel and drilled an opening for the engine and covered the edges with aluminum from a tea candle.

This is very cool. Great concept, and it looks like top notch work.

I'll follow this with interest, and hope for the Death Head moth in PC10 to follow

Thank you all, for the nice comments.
Now after 3 weeks illness, one week business trip to India and 3 weeks of family vacation I managed to get back to the bench.
I did some rigging and the dragonfly got it's wings. Next will be the some armament and a lot of touch ups.

Great work of imagination.
I love the industria mechanica kits although they are a bit expensive but very high quality!

How did you achieve the two-tone effect on the metal cowling behind the eyes?
It is beautiful!

Looks so cool. I have to build one of these (a submarine probably) one day...
