Morning all - an aviation artist here
« on: July 23, 2017, 06:39:45 PM »
Morning all, I'm a UK based aviation artist, who has just dipped his toes into the WW1 aviation scene, and quite likes the temperature.

One reason for joining is that I'm after a specific kit (the MPM 1/72 Hansa Brandenburg W.29) as reference for a painting , but I can see there is also a wealth of knowledge here.

Not yet finished, but a small oil on panel showing a Short 184

I'll start a seperate thread to carry this WIP on and also a post re the W.29

If anybody is interested I'm on Facebook and my website is here
http://navairart.com/
No WW1 stuff though yet

Good to be here

Cheers Gents and thanks for the warm welcome.

I starting to realise how little I know about the subject, but loving the colour schemes and markings. The big question is where to start, but living in East Kent and being a fan of all things Naval Aviation I can see the actions over the North Sea and Channel featuring large.

Welcome aboard, Pete!  So glad you've decided to dip your toe into WWI aviation.  Please, feel free to dive in to the deep end.
Cheers,
Bud

Manni  I've just seen your Industria Mechanika dragonfly and would consider that art (along with most of the models I've seen here), but thanks for your kind words.

The danger here is not getting out of my depth. There is so much stuff to love from this era I could drown in it all.

Pete, I have over 300 WWI model aircraft in my stash.  I reckon you might consider me fully drowned.
I was an art major in college (God only knows why), but I know if I were to pick up a brush after all these years, my work would resembles Whistler's mother's, if I'm lucky.
Cheers,
Bud
