There's some excellent build articles on the forum which would be well worth looking at both for construction advice & methods of doing the Fokker 'streaked' finish if that's applicable to your aircraft.

From memory one unfortunate feature of the Roden kit to be aware of is the recess in the top of the fuselage that results from the way the tail fits.

Here is one build well worth looking at.

For what it is worth I have a current build going in Under Construction using the Encore version of the Roden kit. 8)

finally here is the Hints and tips thread on streaking:

I hope this helps!

Paul,
Russel's point on the fit of the tail components is worthy of watching as well as the cowling shortfalls in the Build Article. I also had some difficulty with the fit of the upper fuselage front cowling over the middle wing, I suspect self induced. Otherwise a very nice Kit, enjoy!
Cheers,
Lance

I don't remember if I mentioned this in my build but I found it beneficial to take a sanding stick to the portion of the wing ties that go into the slots in the wings. Made for a much better fit.

I found the landing gear struts to be very weak. They need replacing or stiffening.

I had forgotten that issue, I re-built the strut assembly out of brass (Strutz which is very hard to come by) If I did it again I think I'd try wire stiffeners added to the Kit struts.

There are white metal replacement sets for the landing struts available, I see them on ebay all of the time.

Thanks for the reminder - I need to get 3 sets for the kits I have in the loft.

I've got a photoetch set for the Dr.I by 'PART' I think, like many such sets some of the details are best represented by other methods.
