Tamiya Paint French Light Yellow?
« on: February 08, 2017, 05:06:04 AM »
Tamiya acrylic paint is my favorite paint.  It's very easy to airbrush and even more so since I started thinning with Gunze Mr. Color Leveling Thinner.  Does anyone have any WWI color recipies for Tamiya paint?  I'm curently working on a Nieuport 11 to be finished in overall light yellow (Mister Kit FR-03.)  Does anyone have any suggestions for a Tamiya equivalent?

Thanks everyone!
Steve

Try going to the WNW web site and looking at page 1 of the Salmson 2A2 instructions. There is a formula for French beige and ECRU. Perhaps one of these will get you in the ballpark.

I think the question is: Early Nieuport 11 - so really ecru or better CDL? The overall light yellow phase for French AC was later, starting with the first SPAD VIIs. But non camouflaged Nieuports 11 were left CDL with horizon blue edges, afaik. Xan, what's your opinion? here's LeBourget's "de Rose" replic:
