The one thing I noticed about that jig is there doesn't appear to be anything holding the top wing, or the model, in place, just a "rest" for it. My usual method with the Aeroclub jig is to secure the wings in the jig then fit the struts by slightly bending them. With the entire model secure I can turn it upside down, or to whatever angle I need to help me see it more clearly.

 Could you secure the model and wing with rubber bands then fit the struts to both wings at the same time....locate one end, then bend very slightly to locate the other?

Ian, I had put rubber bands to hold the wings down but unfortunately something far far worse has happened. I got up to answer the phone and caught the whole kit and caboodle with my arm, sending it to the floor where I managed to tread on it!! :'(
This to say the least  is very annoying as I was starting to make progress as some struts were actually in place and everything was coming together quite  nicely.
It is now resting  in the bin which is a shame but the damage was too severe to even contemplate  attempting to rebuild it. Some  things are just not meant to be   >:(
I guess I should be thankful the kit came off the jig before my foot came in contact otherwise that would be toast as well.
Time to sit down and ponder what next.
Isn't life fun ::)

Toby,
    I am truly sorry to hear of your mishap with this project, it was looking very nice and you must be frustrated to say the least. I've had my share of clumsy and really stupid stunts at the work bench however, to date, Lady Luck has somehow deemed to get engaged and save the day. Take a break, think positive, and I hope you have another project on the move real soon!
Cheers,
Lance

Toby,
A real shame that your Junkers met such an end! I have had similar crashes with my Roden SPAD and Roden SE5a to name just 2. I had a few beers and went on to the next project. I hope you move onward and upward soon!

R.I.B. (Rest in Bin)... always a bad experience. As Guy said, we've all been there.
Best wishes for the next project

Thanks all. I am now over it. I've just started a 1/72 Meteor mk4. After that is a 1/48 Boeing Stearman Kaydet and then I'll be back here with a proper plane should be early May. Obviously I'll keep an eye on what's going on here in the meantime. Happy gluing  ;D

Oh, Toby!
 That is so sad. It was such a good build model.

Not on topic but what scheme for the Meteor? I still have a 1/32nd HK Meteor Mk.4 to do in 56 Sq. Markings by Pheon.
