New member from Califorina
« on: January 20, 2017, 03:00:41 PM »
Hello all, Just starting modeling in 1/72 scale.
I'm a Steam Locomotive Engineer and restoration worker on a couple of full sized Steam tourist Railroads in California and Oregon.
Find WW1 planes interesting and a welcome break from working on 80 ton steam locomotives.

Dave

Hi, welcome to a fellow Californian.  We have a pretty good group of WWI modelers in this area.  Have you done any work up in the Jamestown area?

Welcome to the Forum Dave, this is "the" place to start into WWI Modelling. That's indeed quite a shift; 80 Tons in 1:1 Scale to 1:72 miniatures!
Cheers,
Lance

Hi Dave! Welcome and I hope you have a great time on the site! I do indeed intend to visit the old railroads in America one day... particularly the Narrow-gauge in Colorado... Great work keeping it going! Regards, Marc...

Welcome Dave, welcome to this great group. Since you are working on locomotives, would you know a Chris Allan up your way he works mainly on smaller scale stuff ?
Life is short, enjoy it, nobody gets out alive.

Welcome aboard Dave!
That is certainly going from one extreme to the other....full sized locos to 1:72 aircraft, but always good to see work in my favourite scale!

It was an Airfix 1/72 Roland C.II my brother handed to me, to stop me from bugging him, in 1968 or 1969, that started it all for me. I've long since switched to 1/32, but I have many fond memories of that first kit, lo those many years ago.

My point is Dave, you've embarked on a hobby that will provide a lifetime and more of enjoyment. Have FUN and welcome to the fold!
