Caudron G4 Hydravion CSM 1:48
« on: January 08, 2017, 04:13:21 AM »
Hi friends,
I´m trying to build this wonderful kit - thank you Edgar and CSM for this little gem, it´s like a refreshment in WW I modeling.

Started with the engines, pushrods and wiring still to be added

Cockpit painted with some acrylics and oilcolors

some minor filling and sanding was necessary at floats and nacelles

in my opinion the wings  trailing edges are too thick a bit, so there was a little milling and sanding

here the results (still to be smoothed...)

Cheers,

Jörg

Hi Jörg, wonderful selection on your part and a great start.  Looking forward to your progress (I like the look of the seaplane better than the land based one, just my opinion).

You have made a great start on a great kit Jörg, the cockpit area looks really good and the thinning of the wing trailing edge is a good idea, gives a more realistic look. I will be following your build with great interest.

Thank you, Juan, Des and Edgar!
Edgar, I didn't notice that gap on the photos of the museum Caudron. But surely you are right, I will correct this!

Kind regards

Jörg

Thank you Edgar, I know, the cockpit isn't still finished. Hope I can post some photos of the final result in the next days 😉

Nice work on those wings, Jorgo. Like Des mentioned - it looks much more realistic.

Really great start! The interior looks superb. Nice work on thinning the trailing edges on the wings!

This looks like a wonderful kit, and you've made a great start. Definitely a good idea to thin the rear of the wing.

Excellent work ,jörg! Not so sure about the gap between the upper wing's sections..imo rather a visible connection-seam than a gap.
cheers

Many thanks for your kind comments!

The Caudron´s footrests were aluminium or something like this, I copied that from parts of a pill blister.

weathered with oilpaints, the footrests in the front brushed with Vallejo steel Air metallic. I noticed that these airbrush colors are very fine and can be handbrushed without Problems.

Radio equipment and observer´s headrest painted

Hi, Matz
gap or seam -  anyway, I was wrong to fill it, and sure it´s not a kit issue

Only just seen this - and i was unaware of the floatplane variant. Good job I decided not to attempt that or I would still be building mine now!

The amount of detail that you have in the cockpit is just amazing - the difference between 1/72 and 1/48 is much larger than I sometimes realise. Looking forward to seeing this one progress.
