Gotha GIII (1/72 - Roden)
« on: December 15, 2016, 07:11:59 AM »
Well, I've decided. My next project is the Gotha GIII in scale 1/72 of Roden. This kit, too, is back in its own right. Little details, lots of work. At first I made the pilote chair.
This is how he looks at Roden.

So times the saw set.

And the result, however, without the seat belts.

Also the bombs racks are not great. Left the original, right with PE parts

And the whole thing for the instrument panel.

Last but not least for today a look in the painted trunk half.

Until the next update.
Jürgen

Very good improvements, Jürgen. The chair looks nice and the dashboard is terrific.

Wow - that is incredibly small but you manage to make it look big. Having gone from 1:64 to 1:48 and now to 1:32 - I don't think I'll head back to your scale - my eyes wouldn't stand it but my bookshelves would love it. Great work - I look forward to more.

Cheers

Great start. Very intersting subject. I am curious to see the next steps.

Thank you! ;D
Since the last post I had only time for a little scratchbuilding.
A small quiz. What's this?

No, it's not a bookshelf. 8)

Nice work! I built this kit a few years ago, and despite my faults it's still one of the models I'm most proud of.
If it is any help, here's my build review on Modelingmadness:
http://modelingmadness.com/review/w1/ger/koeng3.htm
I would do quite a few things both better and different now, but perhaps it's helpful.

Didn't these early Gotha's have a partially linen fuselage? I seem te recall I painted mine half linen, half wood and that the complete wooden fuselage was from the GIV onwards.

As I have Roden GIV somewhere to build I'm following this build with interest! :)
