1/48 Eduard Fokker DVII MAG
« on: December 10, 2016, 01:32:57 AM »
I was intending spending December building the 1/72 Airfix Kingfisher for a Pearl Harbor GB on another site but as parts are missing I've had to move the Fokker DVII MAG up the production line. This is the weekend kit (Eduard should get done under the TDA as I've never built or even come remotely close to completing one in a weekend!) and I've ordered an Eduard PE set to compliment it.
I know this is a WW1 site but the markings that come with this kit is for a 1919 Hungarian Army version so I hope that's ok if not let me know and I'll use some other decals I've got for an actual pre end of WW1 plane.

Hello Toby,

Will follow with interest as I've just started an Eduard D.VII  ;) WW1 didn't officially finish until 1919 anyway  ;) British Forces still involved then in Russia...

Engine more or less completed. Will add some weathering later.

Terrific start on the engine! I am really looking forward to seeing this one built as I have only seen one other that I recall.

Some cutting is required to remove parts of the nose not needed.

Injection mould marks need to be removed and I've made a start on those as well.

The oil staining on the engine looks really good Toby. I am looking forward to this and do complete it in 1919 markings - they are different!

Looks good, unusual subject too. You don't see too many of those built. Hopefully Wingnut Wings will do one in 1/32 anytime! :)
Is this based on Eduards "normal" D.VIIs or is this an entirely new tool like their Austrian Albatrosses?

Continuing with doing the interior detail I used Misterkit Doped German Linen for the side walls and other panels. For the wood on the floor and IP I did an undercoat of Mr Hobby wood brown with a top coat of Vallejo transparent woodgrain. I used HGW s/belts which are a pain to build up.
I used Lifecolor redbrown for the seat and leather surrounds of the cockpit.
