That is a super engine Jacek. I cannot understand why you would want to buy a resin kit when you can already turn that into a little gem. This is a great log to follow - most interesting.

Excellent work on the engine Jacek!

I too built the German version a few years ago, and found the instructions a little small, although very comprehensive!  I actually never finished the model completely as I didn't add a few of the peripheral bits but the airframe was complete.

I put the lozenge decals and rib tapes on to kill time whilst on a 36+ hour train trip between Kansas City and LA, but that's another story and not for this thread!

Looking forward to the rest of the build, I seem to remember the kit was quite good quality with loads of PE..

Jacek, don't sell yourself short.  Your effort rivals (actually looks better knowing what you did to it) the resin engine.  Looking forward to your progress.

Fantastic start. I do like the instruction pamphlet. Very comprehensive and almost WNW standard

The detail in this kit is remarkable - and you really are making the best of it.

you truly did a great job on your kit engine and fuel tank jacek. although i agree that there are some small shape issues with the mirage engine parts. in the post above you show a photo of a resin engine. what manufacturer does that resin engine. i dont remember seeing this before. it looks like a nice basis for a a great model of a160hp mercedes d.iii.

I wish my "not so great" kits looked this clean on the sprues! That engine work is really outstanding!
