Just saw on Facebook that HpH Models has announced a 1/32 Aviatik Berg D.I. This is what was on Facebook: A brand new 1/32 scale kit is under process of preparing - the Aviatik Berg D.1!

This is so great! I was ever wondering, why WNW doesn't do the DI, because of its so colourful schemes. So I am more happy that it will be done by an other brand. May be some other companies join in and do some more WWI Stuff.

I am really keen to see, how HpH will deal with their Berg. I built one several years ago and have to say that studying all the materials to get it at least about right was a hard job. Similarly to most austro-hungarian aircraft, basically every single plane was unique in this or that respect.

That's true Ondra, there is a real individuality about the Bergs.  In addition, there were six different manufacturers each with a different configuration of the placement of the radiator, gun position, cowlings, etc.  I also wonder if they'll include decals for the Tarnstoff, which is also a fascinating subject.  For all the various types and some nice profiles + background I recommend the Ja-Po book on the subject.

Yes, knowing this problems with the identification of particular aircraft built by so many manufacturers, I suppose it it the main reason, WNW is not getting into this delicate subject. They tend to produce as exact models as possible and probably so many unknowns are too much for they internal tolerance (sir PJ's).
Or maybe simply sir PJ does not fancy A-H mess in the aircraft production  ;)

there is a new picture of this project on HPH facebook site  ( the engine)

https://www.facebook.com/hphmodels/photos/a.623861297707533.1073741827.620126918080971/1200737806686543/?type=3&theater

you can see on this engine picture a serial number, so we can deduce a color scheme of the kit.
