Telford 2016 photos
« on: November 14, 2016, 02:21:57 AM »
Got home (South London) about midnight. Never met Bud or Nigel, bummer, I was really disappionted not being able to say hello to those guys. Got me Caudron off Edgar, a fantastic kit, kicking myself I didn't pick up some figures at the same time. Spoke to the two hugely talented young men from Holland responsible for producing Avviatic's jaw-droppingly beautiful Ansaldo. Lots of other things but I'll get straight on to the pics.

And from the competition tables (not 100% WW1) :-

And finally WW2 but who can't say no to a 1/32nd B17 :

Cheers,
Tony.

Thanks for the photos, Tony. I'm sorry that we did not get to see you at Telford.

I was only able to get there for a chunk of the Saturday and by early evening was back near Stansted for the flight home. It meant that I hadn't the time to take the customary scores of photos.

I did buy the Copper State late version Caudron G.4 but was also blown away the hydravion version of the same model. While you were at  the Copper State stand did you catch a glimpse of the sample development parts of their amazing 'bloody paralyser'? It will be very big!

At the Eduard stand I did ask about the promised SE 5a and I think they said February of next year.

While killing time at Stansted airport I flicked through the enormous Pocketbond catalogue and, just before actually counting to see how many hundred Tiger tanks and Me 109s it featured, I spotted that Roden were listed as offering a BE.12 in 2016 (in addition to their old BE 2c). I've not seen that yet, but others many known more about it.

Best wishes
Nigel

Thanks for your efforts Tony, certainly some beautiful work on display. The Pfalz DIIIa is a real eye catcher in that Jasta 18 scheme. It must have been an enjoyable day to say the very least! :)

Thanks Tony for the time and effort you have gone to, it is great for all of us who could not attend Telford to see what was on display.

Thanks for posting Tony,

Much appreciated.

The Gipsy Moth looks very nicely done. Any ideas what kit that would be?

Glad you like them, my snapshots don't really show just how beautiful some of those builds are.
Re. the Gipsy Moth, a petite 1/72nd so possibly A Model (injection)? or Omega (resin)? honestly I don't know.
Also 72nd, the Halberstadt Cl.II that took Gold had to be seen to be believed
A bit of advice to anyone thinking of going to Telford by train - be like Odysseus, take a ball of string, I had one hell of a job trying to find my way back to the railway station in the dark!

Cheers,
Tony.

PS Looking over those photos I can't help thinking the B17 pilot in the last picture is a ringer for James Stewart, intentional?

Thanks for posting those fantastic photos, Tony!  Mine didn't turn out so well.  I'm really sorry that I didn't get to meet up with you.  I hung out mostly at the Copper State table and the Great War SIG display.  Must've been having a beer with the SIG guys while you were at CSM.  The highlight of the trip for me was meeting Richard, Edgar, Nigel and my other forum mates.  It would have been a special treat to meet you since we go way back to the Aerodrome days.  Someday.
Cheers,
Bud

"Must've been having a beer with the SIG guys"

Bud,
Bet it wasn't a Budweiser or a Sam Adams either ;) , you lucky devil! If Telford is half as good as the beer in that country I'd be in 10th heaven, hope you enjoyed it!
Cheers,
Lance
