Thought it wouldn't hurt to add this old relic of my 1:48 Scale days, built 12-13 years ago. Quick snapshots on the kitchen table this morning, she's dusty and a little rough, Dragon Kit with Microscale lozenge, hand cut nose feathers, and I think Kit decals for the scheme. Other then the PE struts a pretty neat little Kit as I recall. All green wing as was the "theory" in those days...............

Cheers,
Lance

Hi Lance

Now that brings back some memories, though your outcome was rather better than mine. And yes, I too followed what appeared the orthodoxy back then with an all green wing.

Best wishes
Nigel

Beautiful work on the DML kit! I had so much trouble getting the PE strut arrangement in order that I gave up and modified the OLD original Eduard Plastic Struts to fit. You seem to have mastered the assembly! Lovely EV!

RAGIII,
I had read somewhere that applying watered down white glue to thicken the two dimensional struts worked well. As I recall it took about 6 coats and, after a light sanding worked out nicely. I tried the same trick on the cabanes on their DR I and it was a "horror show". I think in that case I rushed between coats and got a half spherical chain finish for my stupidity! :-[
Cheers,
Lance

Hello Lance:

The EV still looks good!  I like the look of the solid green wing.  I remember reading Dan San Abbot's treatise on the streaked and colored wing.    Either way, it looks good.  Thanks for sharing.

Best

Hi Mark
You are absolutely right about Lance's old EV looking really good irrespective of current orthodoxy on the wing colour. As I noted earlier. I also finished the Dragon EV  - pretty hopelessly in my case - with a dark green wing.

I do hope that fears about finish accuracy don't inhibit postings of earlier examples of our work. It's only recently that friends here on the forum have made me aware of DSA's work on EV finishes but that does pose some challenging questions for me in terms of the number of strips of colour on the wing surface. We often see four, but I understand that it can be even seven or more and for the particular aircraft I have in mind the DSA work even suggests ten!

Besides, I love seeing examples of work being done say ten or twenty years ago when the challenges were so different

Best wishes
Nigel
