Beautifull work. Very impressive results.

I have some question regarding your paint technic.
Did you use for the streaks again the acryl oil, like you did with the wood grain? How did you apply the streaks? With a normal brush? Is the underlying paint matte, semi matte or gloss? And some last questions  regarding the paint itself : What is the difference between oil-color and acryl based oil color in applying and drying and how is it diluted?

Sorry for all the questions? TIA
A model thrives on its overall impression and not on that every little disagreement over the original is hyped up as a disaster

Some really great work, there, Rick! The tip for the wrinkles is magic - it should be easy even for me! I do like your green streaking on the Fokker, it looks perfectly to scale and authentic... Regards, Marc

Terri

Thanks T, I appreciate you looking in!

Actually a very nice Fokker streaking. Looks really awesome!
Best wishes
Andreas

Thanks. Still some work to do after the mid and lower wing have the basic streaking. I am using a rear view of F1 103/17 to try and copy the streaking footprint for this bird.

Here is the short answer.
I used a regular tube oil for the olive green color. After application I applied dots of Burnt Umber Acrylic Oils and blended to give a more greenish brown look. The base was Polyscale acrylic RLM 76 so not totally flat, more of an eggshell. I use Testors Model Master thinner to dampen the flat brushes on both types of oils! Here is a link showing the basic technique although I vary the application depending on the scheme. IHTH,

You are really making excellent progress with these Rick. It amazes me how much you get done it such a short time. I can see three wonderful models appearing in the completed models section before I know it!!

Thanks Stephen. I actually have an extra day off this weekend so hopefully the streaking will be finished and some work on the other two will be done.

And the streaking is perfect!

Just caught up Rick - super work all round for sure. Love that streaking effect you've achieved too.

Still don't know how you keep three going though  ;)

Thanks for looking in and your comment Tug!

I have finished the streaking on the wings( some minor touch up needed). The upper wing is just resting in place for the photos. The fuselage has developed a small crack on the upper seam so will need to re do that.

PS: The elevator has broken loose on one side and must be fixed.

Extraordinary streaking, Amigo! The colors you've chosen are perfect, imho, and your technique is flawless.  McCudden's report of the engagement in which Voss was killed stated that he flew a "silver" plane, which this would look like at a distance.  Well done!
Cheers,

Great streaking Rick, the insignia and other decals are really going to bring this to life..

I can't see a crack?  I guess you are like me - in that if you know something is there, you want to fix it?  But in photos and when viewed on your shelf will you see it??

I still have a few more Dr1s in my stash and I have yet to try streaking, but this looks really good!

Now that is how I've always imagined the F1 streaking looked.

Cheers,
Tony.
