My Brisfit hasn't arrived yet a week after an email saying it's been posted...

Hannants were the same price and I would have had it 5 days ago...

Guy
Oddly enough I ordered two kits last Thursday and they turned up yesterday. However on the downside the three emails I've sent them since Monday have gone unanswered. I used to get and answer the next day before Weta was part of the process.

That is odd Toby! I hope it doesn't mean mine's cast adrift somewhere...  :-\

I emailed them a couple of days ago and have just got a 'sorry, were out of the office...'  :P

Fingers crossed today - I'm spending most of my days off looking out for delivery vans....

I'm sure it'll be with you soon. I did get the automatic sorry we're out reply as well but nothing apart from that. As I said it's most unusual as they used to respond the next day. Ho Hum
Btw has anyone who has placed an order  been charged a nominal upfront cost? I have and that was one of the reasons I emailed them to find out why.

Hannants have been selling WNW kits for years.  Usually they are priced in UK£ at the same number as WNW charged in US$, so for example a WNW kit originally listed at $79 would have been £79 at Hannants.

When the £/$ exchange rate was higher, even allowing for the VAT and "release" fee for delivery to the UK, it was still cheaper to buy from WNW (and then WETA)

So, now the new Duellist is to be priced on WETA at $189?  That means at the exchange rate now ($1.23 = £1) a list price of £153.  Add VAT and the approx delivery charge from WETA of £12 (I can't remember exactly) and the total comes to £195.

A pre-order from Hannants is £171.

That's a no brainer, especially as if before the kit is released you then change your mind, you can cancel.  Hannants don't tell you when the order is ready as they want the sale, but if you keep checking and change your mind before the kits are released, it is OK.

Of course, the exchange rate could go haywire before the kits are finally released.....

Still no Brisfit..  :P

Ironically, I ordered some of the Poly tubing recommended by Justin on his Gotha build log - from the States - it's just arrived - 2 days after ordering!

Yet my Brisfit from Weta from the Netherlands is still not here.. nor a reply from my email...

That's the one I used. Arrived via Yodel who I consider to be spectacularly useless.

They are.

I once had a note through the door - "Parcel in green bin". The same green bin that had been subsequently emptied into a rubbish lorry.

Ok, now for the German/European coustomers of WNW, WETA will be NO alternative anymore, because Modellbau-König (Modell-koenig.de)has the complete program in February on stock, there will be no more extreme high delivery prizes VAT and so on....it is sad, that WETA(WNW) is able to forward good prizes to such a big store rather to give them to their coustomers,(you know, those idiots, that bought all your kits and made you so famous).
So I will spend only one more my money at WETA to get rid of my Weta-dollars and then I will definitely never go there anymore.
This makes me sad as a real big fan of WNW

I think this is all part of the plan; Wingnut's kits will go through a wholesaler to a retailer like any other kits with WETA as an alternative for anyone who can't find a local source.
Quite possibly. However what I find very disappointing is the lack of response to emails sent. Not a good business model for the future. WNW have always been very good at replying  to them in the past.

Modellbau-Koenig are around 15+% cheaper than Weta when VAT is taken into account. If delivery costs are similar then there's no contest.

In germany delivery is free of charge, when you spend more than 30€. I just looked at their shipping costs and it seems so, that also our Canadian friends are free of charge, when they spend 200€, so this should be an option for non EU coustomers as well.

I asked a US based model dealer (Sprue Bros) if they had investigated carrying WNW kits and they said yes, back when this was announced last year they inquired to WNW but were told they were not ready and to wait for them to be back in touch (which sounds like hasn't happened yet....)

From the Wingnut Wings website;

Since mid July 2016 Wingnut Wings model kits and Little Contemptibles collectibles are available to order direct from www.wetanz.com and from specialist retailers.

Registrations of interest from prospective retailers and wholesalers are now being accepted. Email wholesale@wingnutwings.com

As can be seen from this statement, anyone can register to become a wholesaler/retailer of Wingnut kits and accessories, we may see quite a number of retailers jumping on the band wagon and stocking Wingnut kits.

As far as postage is concerned, I am finding more and more that online hobby shops are now offering free post once your order reaches a certain amount, some are offering free post for any order any price. Competition is getting very tough so retailers will try anything to get your money and free post is a very good incentive. The crux of the matter is, shop around, do your research, there are bargains to be had.
