You are welcome, Ernie! They really are worth trying - those 8 sheets cost me about 50 cent. :)

Btw. one more tip - these sheets are also available in red colour, which is great for carved propellers (sandwich of white and red plastic sheets sanded to shape).

Hello Ondra. I'm late in on this, but goodness me, this work is so impressive. It will be great to see how it develops.

Best wishes

Many thanks, Rick and Nigel!

Currently I am experimenting with the cockpit cover and it seems to be on a good way, please keep your fingers crossed for me. ;)

I would like to ask you for support with your ideas - so far I am not sure how to build the radiator to make it look the piece. The whole radiator panels will be 1x 5 mm, therefore the shutters will have to be very fine to look to scale. I was thinking about a decal or scribing, but neither for these methods seems really promising...

Cheers

Ondra

Of the two ideas proposed, I think a decal is most promising.

Or maybe you could heat a file or something with the correct pattern and spacing and press it into the plastic? (Of course you may ruin the file or whatever...)

Or how about folding up some thin foil, accordion-style?

Anyway, very cool stuff so far buddy

Hmm, interesting idea with the heated file! I have to find something with the correct pattern but that really sounds good.

Many thanks, mate!

I have an idea for the radiator shutters: find a small metal file with the "teeth" the same size of the shutters you need, then burnish thin aliminum foil over it. If you apply PVA or medium CA to the back of the foil afterwards it will hold it's shape.

Just a thought...

Ahoj Lukáši, many thanks, sir!

@George: great idea, for sure worth trying, many thanks! CA is clear, but what does PVA stand for?

@Pietro: I am not sure, what you mean and google did not help either. Do you mean the radiator could be made using the same method as is used for the louvred door panels?

Once again many thanks to all for your support and ideas!

Cheers

Hello Ondra, go to the Grandt Line website and have a look at part #8016 under N scale architectural parts. It's a louvered attic vent that may be of some use. Good luck. BTW,I really admire your work!

Hi folks,

here a slight progress on the fuselage. I made this jig for the cockpit cover:

Afterwards I stretched a sheet of heated plastic sheet over it and got this:

Will see how it will work out.

Furthermore I just played around with wood grain (gold ochre)

And with leather (red ochre)

Cheers
