Edward Mannock's S.E.5a 1/144 scratch
« on: March 26, 2016, 03:41:02 AM »
Hello everybody,

my next build will be Mannock's S.E.5a he flew at 74. Squadron. Almost no photos are available for this particular machine which does not make me worried. :) At least I have more space for "artistic licence".

Today I just started working on the wings and fuselage. Can't wait to use the Drooling Bulldog PC 10 and linen edition paints on this one. :)

Cheers

Ondra

this looks gret already ,the shaped look very accurate. much respect to you scratch building at these small sizes. its a whole different set of skills than most of us around here are used to.

Many thanks for looking in and following, Scott, Des and Rick!

Just a slight progress on the fuselage.

For the S.E.5a fuselage one I would like to try a new method which should allow me (perhaps) achieving a better accuracy and final fit of the particular elements. The cover for the cockpit I would like to make using a method similar to making canopies (unfortunately I am not able to find the correct expression for this method...).

Brilliant work, Ondra!  You never cease to astonish me with your craftsmanship in this minute scale.

I am amazed at what you are able to achieve Ondra.  The fact that it is 144th scale just makes it mind boggling!

The blue has thrown me a bit Ondra.  What material are you
using for the construction?

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Thank you all for your encouraging moments!

to Ernie: I use plastic sheets used for information shields (like "no entry" or "no trespassing"), it is the same material as Evergreen sheets, just slightly harder and much cheaper. I bought 8 sheets (A4 format) about four years ago, this stock seems to be sufficient for about 40 model in my scale. :)
