TVAL's second Fee 'Jess' has been a bit elusive to photograph in any detail. I have been particularly keen to obtain detail shots of the bomb racks and release mechanisms, the flare holders and wingtip lights. No cockpit shots until TVAL put her on public display at one of their Open Hangar days, which hasn't happened yet.  Here are my best shots so far:

I like this shot as it shows details of how the bomb rack stays attach to the nacelle underside

Here you can see the Bowden cable coming from the bomb release toggle down to the rack itself

The flare pylon has a rubber bungee cord going forward and two diagonal wire stays going aft

Isn't Jess a beauty!

Cheers
James

Thanks James for the great detail photos of the centre complex bomb rack, also the wing bomb racks, quite an unusual set-up for the flare holder with the two cables and the bungee cord, all wonderful details though.

Great to see my model expanded to the real size!!!  ;D
But honestly speaking, I dearly regret all these details were not available 18 months ago, when I was building my Jess. Anyway, I will always have special feelings to this aircraft. Many thanks, Jamo, for these fantastic shots. Seeing them I just feel I have yet one more reason to visit New Zealand!

Great pics, as usual, Jamo!

The complexity of that center bomb rack for a single bomb always amazes and amuses me at the same time.

I visited TVAL's hangar again this morning and found Jess had her engine panels removed, which offered the opportunity for more reference images. It's a fairly low light environment in the hangar so some shots aren't as crisp as would like. Might inspire an undressed model?

The Fee normally had covers fitted over the magnetos, here is what it looks like underneath

Here is how the access panels work (if you are using the HGW PE replacements):

Flare chute, which had some electrical contacts to ignite the flare as it went down the tube:

James, thank you. These magnificent photos are so useful and of real quality.

The last of the shots raises an interesting, if pedantic point in my mind. In the serial number, the individual characters  appear not to be spaced properly, with the first number 5 and the following number, a 6 , looking almost squashed together. Is this something TVAL have replicated from an original. See, I said it was pedantic!

Best wishes
Nigel
