Speaking of 1/48 Scale - Does anyone make a mask for the early 30 cm German Naval Hex camo? Doesn't look like there are any AM decals out there and while Eduard's Albatros W.4 decals are the correct size, the colors are off. Maybe someone has worked these masks with a Silhouette Cutter? Aviattic colors look great but they are the smaller printed hex size. TIA

I think I started a thread several years ago that linked some discussion from the Aerodrome Forum here in Camo and Markings. It was during the Floatplane GB and I was seeking the same info. IIRC No one does this Accurately. I painted over the Eduard Hex by hand with what I felt to be "Closer to Correct" colors. That being said the Eduard Hex decals are facing the wrong direction :-[ SO No I don't think their are masks. We have a couple of Forumites here that are very good at creating Masks, Ondra, and Decals Pustota ? Maybe they could help.

Wood and wire do them. Available from Nordland models.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't notice the Eduard decals were facing in the wrong direction....assuming spanwise vs. chordwise.
I have ordered a set of the Wood & Wire painted hex decals. Have no idea how they will perform but will check them out when I get them.

I looked at photos of the Wood and Wire hex decals. Painted hex 48013 and fabric hex 48014 both appear to have the same size hexes. The painted ones should be 30cm on aircraft produced before the printed hex was available. 15cm painted hexes were probably used just on floats in conjunction with 15cm printed hex covered wings.
It looks like the W&W painted version hexes are not suitable for an all painted hex Albatros W-4.
